A great way to encourage visitors to stay on your site is through links. Embed links into important text that will take the visitor to another relative location on your website. Hopefully, this will result in a cycle of that visitor continuing to find content that interests them.
A call to action is also very important. Allow people to take action when they’re on your site by providing them with an option to purchase something or find out more. If there’s no call to action, when they are done on that page, they’re more likely to leave your website entirely.

Use Google Analytics or another behavior tracking tool to get a sense of what’s working and what’s not. Are people staying on one page more than another? Are people clicking on your internal links? And maybe most importantly, what’s your bounce rate? Tracking tools provide extremely useful information you can use to make sure your website is built in a way that keeps visitors on it longer, keeping that bounce rate down.
